Detect Meat

Divination

Level: Sor/Wiz 1
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: 60 ft.
Area: Cone-shaped emanation
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 min./level (D)
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

You can detect the presence of meat or once-living tissue. Only meat, meat elementals, active spells with the meat descriptor, meat elementals, corpses (including corporeal, non-skeletal undead), or parts thereof are detected by this spell. The amount of information revealed depends on how long you study a particular area or subject.

1st Round

Presence or absence of meat.

2nd Round

Quantity and location of all meat in the area of effect.

Each Additional Round

Whether the meat detected is animate and whether it has a magical aura. You can make a Craft (cooking) roll (make one check per piece of meat, DC 15) to determine whether the meat is edible or poisoned and the method of preparation used in cooking the meat, if any. Each round, you can turn to detect meat in a new area. The spell can penetrate barriers, but 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood or dirt blocks it.
